A Huge fan of XR 🤩

I am a huge fan of Extended Reality as I believe XR is the next-generation interface just like mobile phone in today’s world. I have experience working on Unity Engine, Vuforia, Spark AR and A-frame. I am passionate about exploring interaction patterns and best practices in immersive technology.

I woule also like to bring my diverse skillsets in UX design, motion graphics, 3d animation and prototyping to the project, and contribute to future product development in XR.

Critter Sauga: Vuforia +Unity

2019. Jan - Apr

Critter Sauga is an interactive AR installation featuring life-sized sculptures of wild animals in Mississauga to inspire a greater appreciation of nature among the community.

My role in this project is Unity developer and AR interface designer, we use Vuforia Engine to create marker-based AR experience: scan the customized marker or use gesture control to reveal the 3d animated animal model who talk to you about the history of Mississauga and their life in augmented world. The interface is inspired by narrative games since the goal is to engage with the community and the youth.

Down the Rabbit Hole - VR Storytelling,

2018. Nov-Dec

Down the Rabbit Hole is an experiential VR piece inspired by Alice in Wonderland that allows the viewer to explore objects of childhood through touch and grab while floating in a mysterious tunnel. The deeper you are in the tunnel, the younger you become. Our team felt that simulating Alice’s falling journey would be an interesting use for VR, and could pose as a unique symbol and mechanic for evoking nostalgia.

My role in this project is 3D assets creator and animator. I created and modified 3d models in C4D/Maya, and animate the object in Unity using VRTK. I created effects such as flicking books, opening doors, and record player triggering background music.

I can always find the fastest path to begin execution and have strong ability to create whatever assets needed quickly as I am fluency with industry-standard tools, and I am also resourceful in finding the best tutorials.

Hokusai 360 Video + Kinect Motion Sensor

2018. March

Our team is deeply inspired by one of the greatest Japanese artists, Hokusai Katsushika and created three-dimensional depth in two-dimensional prints. In this 360 VR experience, we are bringing part of his greatest work, The Great Wave of Kanagawa, into a 3D space.

My role in this project is Unity developer and assets creator using the 360 painting feature in Photoshop. It was really challenging to combine Kinect (body movement and gesture recognition sensor) and Unity together but we made it. People can use gestures such as waving hands, raising hands to trigger animations embedded in the scene: trigger the flying bird, make the cloud fade away and so on. These animations enhance the whole interactive experience and make the story alive.

Co-Art Cafe, Web AR Project

2019. Nov

A web AR application developed as part of our experience for a one-day pop up cafe project. By scanning the unique marker composed by artists’ initials, the audience is able to quickly access artists’ bio, statement and their portfolio website. It is also adds the interactiveness to the customer experience.

My role in this project is web AR developer. We use A-frame as the development language to create the whole application, along with my skill in HTML/CSS to create a simple app launch page.

Science Meets Art: Vuforia + Unity

2018. Nov

An image-based AR project I created for my psychology class: Scan the image to trigger the interactive brain model. It provides a more engaging way for people to understand the functionality of brain and combines artistic project and science education.

I created this project in Unity using Vuforia plugin and imported the modified brain model from Cinema 4D. Using the low-poly shader, I added the artistic and glowing effect to the model.
